    ACTION INFORMATION:

Enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year is now open. Please direct families to enroll.lisd.net.

Each Kindergarten through Fourth Grade student has received a salmon colored family input form for next school year with the deadline to return it completed on Tuesday, April 4. This input form is the one opportunity for families to share information about their student to be considered when making class roster assignments for your student next school year. Be as complete, accurate, and forthcoming as possible with information to assist in the placement process for next school year. No other input will be considered including additional notes, requests for conferences, etc. regarding this matter once the April 4 due date has passed.

The annual Eagle Fee form has been distributed via the Eagle Folder. The completed form and payment are due to the main office by Friday, April 28. Each student pays the Eagle Fee to cover regular expenses for the next school year. The Eagle Fee will cover for each individual student a grade level shirt, field trip admissions, grade level magazine, and school garden resources. There will also be an option to preorder and pay for your yearbook and the all school music CD for next school year taking the worry out of multiple and sometimes missed deadlines. Please consult the blue flier for further details.

PTA has once again organized all of the requested school supplies per grade level for the next school year into a one large wrap pack that will be conveniently delivered to the classroom prior to Back to School Night next August! The informational ordering flier was in your Tuesday, March 7, Eagle Folder for use during the month of April only. Go online to complete your order by Saturday, April 30, as the online window will close and no late orders or extras will be accepted.

    GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

State mandated STAAR testing begins Tuesday and Wednesday, March 28 and 29, with fourth grade writing and fifth grade math on the first day and fifth grade reading on the second day. It is very important that all students who are testing get a good night of sleep, eat an appropriate breakfast, remain hydrated, dress comfortably, consider leaving all electronics at home, and arrive at school early to settle in for testing. Every family needs to know that the entire campus will be closed to ALL visitors for ALL grade levels on testing days - meaning no volunteer services, no mystery readers, no lunch visitors, etc. These days must allow us to focus on a quiet, uninterrupted environment that also allows for the administration, office, and support staff to be available for testing purposes as mandated by the Texas Education Agency. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are being held at this time. Classroom teachers should be contacting you soon to schedule if they have not already. All spring conferences should be completed by Friday, April 28.

The doors officially unlock and staff supervision of the public areas begins at 7:15am each day. We discourage students arriving and being dropped off prior to 7:15am. Once the doors open, students have access to breakfast service in the cafeteria, opportunities to work on the computers in the lab, time to check lost and found in the main office for missing items, and Tuesday and Friday mornings shop at the student council operated school store.

If you know of anyone who is interested in transferring to Liberty for the next school year, here is the official posted information: the Lewisville ISD Student Services Department will be accepting transfer requests from now through April 17. The 2017-2018 transfer request form is available under the Student Services tab on the LISD website with the direct link being www.lisd.net/Page/408.

We want all Liberty families to be involved at school as often as your schedule allows. We are also aware that there are times when a conference or meeting must be held to discuss certain situations, needs, or issues. As it is in most businesses, the courtesy of a scheduled appointment is not only appreciated by the professional staff at Liberty, but is helpful to all involved in setting up a conference or meeting that works with individual time commitments and allows for meaningful preparation to occur in advance. This often results in a more productive gathering and use of time. With that in mind, please schedule meetings in advance directly with the staff member or members you need to collaborate with and allow the practice of going to the source guide you in your decision making.

As a reminder, the following summarized expectations for both arrivals and dismissals are provided to ensure the safety of all:

    • Bus Riders: loading and unloading all occur behind the school in the dedicated bus lane
    • Bike Riders: cross Quail Run at the guarded crosswalk and follow the sidewalk west and north to the school
    • Walkers: cross Quail Run at the guarded crosswalk and follow the sidewalk west and north to the school
    • Car Riders: follow the flow map on either the east or west sides driving along the curbs, with multiple vehicles dropping off/picking up occurring simultaneously and not waiting until you are directly in front of the main entrance
    • NO ONE is to park their vehicle anywhere on school property and walk to and from the school building to drop off or pick up students
    • Only the four categories above exist and should be adhered to each and every day for each and every family

Thank you for being proactive in regards to the safety and well being of each and every student and family member by simply following these expectations, which allow for the entire campus to begin on time and be vacated safely within ten minutes at the end of the school day.

As always, thank you for your support and involvement at Liberty Elementary School and have a great weekend and week!
