How do we notify the school if our child is going to be absent?
Please call the school to notify us of your child's absence by 8:30a.m. on the day of the absence. By doing this, we may inform your child's teacher in a timely manner.

How do we check students out for appointments?
If it is necessary for the students to leave school during the day, parents must come to the office to sign their child out. When signing your child out, please be prepared to show a photo ID. Students will be called to the office for dismissal. Students will not be released to anyone other than the parent without prior written or verbal notification.
What procedures do visitors to the building need to follow?
Your child's safety is of the utmost importance at Polser Elementary! We ask that anyone visiting our campus check in at the office before going into any other part of the building. You will sign in at our office visitor's computer and receive an identification badge. After your visit, we ask that you check back out through the same office computer.
What do I do if my student needs medication during school hours?
We have a full time nurse at Polser Elementary. She is available to help with medical needs of students during the school day. If a child needs to take medication, we ask that parents deliver it to the clinic in the original labeled prescription bottle and fill out our medication form. We do not allow students to take medications without supervision of the nurse or a designee.
Do you have an after school program?
Yes, we have a program for students at Polser Elementary. Enrollment for this program is handled through our district Community Education Department. The phone number is 469-713-5997. Enrollment is limited to 45 students.
How do we schedule a parent/teacher conference?
Each teacher on our staff has a regularly scheduled conference period. If you need to set a time to meet with a teacher, you may set up a time during the conference period. If you need to get a message to a teacher at a time other than their scheduled conference time, you may call the office and we will place a message in the teacher's mailbox. The teacher will contact you as soon as possible.
Do you have an active PTA?
We are fortunate to have a very active PTA program at Polser Elementary. Our PTA sponsors monthly parent meetings, school supplies sales, Family Fun nights, school carnival, school assemblies and other special events throughout the school year. Parents are encouraged to become involved in parent volunteer programs. For more information, please visit out PTA page.
