Mr. Deering has recently moved back to the area after teaching for 20 years in the California Central Valley. His responsibilities included orchestra, marching band, concert band, jazz band, percussion, and colorguard. His groups combined each year for more than fifty performances. While the list of accolades his groups accumulated is extensive, a few highlights include: Orchestra Sweepstakes, Jazz Sweepstakes, and Marching Sweepstakes at many of the California Music Educators Association events throughout his tenure. His awards include Educator of the Month and Who's Who Among American Teachers.
In addition to the orchestra and band ensembles he performed with as a student, Mr. Deering has also performed with The Lubbock Symphony, The Tulare County Symphony, The Tulare Brass Band, The Sequoia Quintet, The College of the Sequoias Jazz Bands, as well as school and community musicals each year.
