Lakeview is committed to providing a quality education for all of its students. When students do not complete assignments, or delay the completion of assignments, that process is severely compromised. Students get behind in their school work and zeroes earned from late or missing assignments result in low or failing grades. In order for the education process to work as it should students must complete assignments on time.
While completing assignments on time is a high priority throughout our school, we understand that there will be those rare occasions where an assignment is misplaced or for whatever reason is not completed on time. Lakeview hopes to acknowledge that middle school students are not perfect while at the same time stressing the importance of completing assignments regularly on time.
Students are expected to turn assignments in on time as specified by the classroom teacher. A student will be permitted to turn one assignment in after the due date in a course during each six weeks’ grading period. The classroom teacher may assess a grade penalty of up to 30 points for the late work. After the once per six weeks exception has been applied, all remaining work turned in late during that six weeks period will receive no credit.
In an effort to help our 8th graders prepare for the no late work policy at TCHS, during the second semester, no late work will be accepted. The one late assignment per six weeks exception will not be available during the second semester for 8th graders.
