Dress Code - The student and parent may determine the student's personal dress and grooming standard, provided that the student's dress and grooming:
1. Shall not lead school officials to believe that such dress or grooming will disrupt, interfere, disturb, or distract from school activities.
2. Shall not create a health or safety hazard to the student's safety or to the safety of others.
The principal in connection with the sponsor, coach, or other person in charge of an extracurricular activity, may regulate the dress and grooming of stud nets who participate in the activity. For clarification purposes, the following guidelines are provided:
Student's hair must be clean, groomed and by the nature of the style shall not tend to create a distraction. Hair coloring that is not found in nature is not allowed.
Male students may wear either one small stud or one small loop earring in one or both ears.
Student's may not wear facial jewelry or other facial decorations ( other than normal make-up). Students are not to use markers or pens to write or draw on hands, arms, or face.
Clothing, which, in the opinion of the professional staff would be deemed inappropriate or offensive for schooling general, shall not be allowed; i. e. among, but not limited to split sides, see-through clothing, halters, short tops, fishnet tops, tank tops, sleeveless tops with straps less than 3 inches wide, sleeveless tops with oversized arm openings, or shorts not worn at the natural waistline.
Male students may wear pants of appropriate length or shorts (no biker, spandex style shorts) of appropriate length.
Female students may wear skirts of appropriate length, long pants, or shorts ( no biker, spandex style shorts) of appropriate length ( shorts must have discernable leg to them). Skorts ( shorts with an attached skirt) that give the appearance of a mini-skirt that would be deemed too short are not allowed.
Appropriate undergarments shall be worn by all students.
Students may not wear clothing that advertises by name or symbol any products that are not permitted in schools, including but not limited to drugs, obscenities, profanity, tobacco, alcohol, or suggestive slogans.
A school uniform is an appropriate and approved form of dress for special occasions.
No hats, sweatbands, sun visors, scarf, or bandannas shall be worn in the school building, either by male or female students.
For health reasons, students are required to wear shoes or sandals. House shoes and slippers are not permitted.
The administration reserves the right to make determinations regarding the standards stated above and to determine any inappropriate dress.
