DRESS AND GROOMING
The District’s dress code is
established to teach grooming and hygiene, prevent disruption, and minimize
safety hazards. Students and parents may
determine a student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided that they
comply with the following Lewisville I.S.D. school board approved dress code:
- All students must be clean and neatly groomed
- Student’s hair, by the nature of the style,
shall not tend to create a distraction
- Clothing, which in the opinion of the
professional staff would be deemed inappropriate or offensive for school
in general, shall not be allowed (i.e., among but not limited to, split
sides, see-through clothing, halters, midriffs, fishnet tops, tank tops,
bike shorts (spandex), or pants not worn at the natural waist line). Students must wear shirts with sleeves
- Students may not wear facial jewelry or facial
decoration (other than normal make-up)
- Male students may wear either one small stud or
one small loop earring in one or both ears
- Female students may wear skirts of appropriate
length (15-16 inches from waist), long pants or shorts of appropriate
length (4-6 inch inseam or longer)
- Male students may wear long pants of appropriate
length, or shorts of appropriate length (mid-thigh or longer)
- Appropriate undergarments shall be worn by all
students
- Students may not wear clothing that advertised
by name or symbol any products that are not permitted in schools,
including but not limited to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Profane, obscene, suggestive, morbid,
and other unwholesome clothing are also prohibited
- Al school uniform is an appropriate and approved
form of dress for special occasions
- No hats, sweat bands, or bandannas shall be worn
in the school building either by male or female students
- For health reasons, students are required to
wear shoes
- The administration reserves the right to
determine any inappropriate dress that it feels is disruptive to the
school environment
