Guidance Program
The Huffines Middle School guidance counselors are dedicated to supporting and enhancing student success. We focus on academic achievement through the facilitation of prevention and intervention activities, student advocacy, and social and career development.
PROGRAMS & SERVICES
Individual Counseling:
Provide a supportive and confidential environment for students to work toward personal, social, and academic growth.
Group Counseling:
Group sessions are offered to students throughout the year, which may include Anger Mangement, Decision Making, Divorce, and others as needed.
Career Counseling:
Increase awareness of careers and begin the process of identifying appropriate career tracking for high school placement. The counselors also host a schoolwide Career Day for students during the spring semester.
Guidance Lessons:
Schoolwide Advisory Guidance Lessons and Classroom Guidance lessons include: Anti-Bullying, Careers, Cyber-safety, Drug & Tobacco Awareness, Alchohol Abuse and related accidents, Abstinence, and other important issues.
Mediation/Conflict Resolution:
Provide a safe and supportive atmosphere for students to communicate feelings and differences in order to resolve conflict in a peaceful manner. Huffines MS also offers the Peer Mediation program where peer mediators are trained to support students to resolve conflicts through successful conflict resolution.
Transitional Support:
Assist in orienting students as they move from elementary school to the middle school as well as from middle school to the high school.
Parent/Teacher Support:
Consult with parents and teachers to develop appropriate academic and social supports needed for students' personal and academic success.
