Mrs. Beckel’s Bulletin
Dear
Parents, Staff and Students,
This
has been an exciting and wonderful year at Thomas O! This year has seen much
growth in student enrollment. It is hard to believe just four years ago in August
of 2004 we opened our "little" school with the big heart. On August
14, 2004 the doors opened to welcome the first students of Hicks Elementary. We
numbered 210 students along with 23 staff members and we "rattled
around" in a 100,750 square foot building. The teachers carried
walkie-talkies when they needed to contact the office, which wasn't yet
completed.
"Mrs.
Beckel I need some help with these tables in my
room," one staff member called me on the two-way. "Where are
you?" I inquired back. "I don't know...." came back the answer.
Before
long we all became acquainted with the building, each other and the
dynamic students and parents that have established Hicks Elementary as a
lighthouse school for LISD. In three short years we have grown to an
educational institute of excellence. We pride ourselves on the outstanding
support of parents, friends and neighbors. The greatest compliment I
receive is when I hear from former parents and students what a solid foundation
our Timberwolves were given before they moved on to middle school and high school.
May
you all have a relaxing, restful summer. School resumes August 25 with a Boo-Hoo breakfast for all parents, sponsored by the PTA
starting at 7:30 in the school cafeteria. Come meet your neighbors, make new friends
and relax with a cup of coffee and a pastry.
Many
thanks to all for a great school year! See you in August!
Have
a GREAAAAT Timberwolf Summer!
Mrs.
Beckel
