Krista Stricklen
Mrs. Stricklen knew at an early age that she was destined for a career in education. Her grandmother was an elementary school teacher, her father taught Law School and was a member of the Little Rock School Board, and her mother was a Second Grade Sunday School teacher for many years. These family members impressed upon her the importance of education and child advocacy. After graduating from Baylor University with a specialization in mathematics, Krista began her career as one of four sixth grade teachers in Coppell I.S.D. She soon enrolled at the University of North Texas where she achieved her M.Ed. in Elementary Education and minored in Computer Science.

During her 27 years as a Texas educator, Krista has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels and served 11 years as a campus administrator at “Exemplary” schools in the North Dallas area. Krista is a past principal of Durham Intermediate School in Carroll I.S.D. and is currently serving her fifth year as assistant principal at Heritage Elementary School, a National Blue Ribbon School in Lewisville I.S.D.

As a public speaker, Krista has been invited to present at the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association Annual Conference, to the North Texas Area Association of School Boards, and at the University of North Texas Assistant Principals’ Conference. She has been a district and campus trainer in Love & Logic/Conflict Resolution, Higher Level Thinking Skills, and TAKS preparation.

Krista has been the recipient of numerous awards including Region X’s Distinguished Principal Honor, Coppell I.S.D.’s Employee of the Quarter, and in 2008 was named Assistant Principal of the Year in Lewisville I.S.D.

Krista is married with two sons, Kenneth (senior at University of North Texas) and John (senior at Rockwall High School), two married stepsons, Kurt and Brook (both Petty Officers in the U.S. Coast Guard), two grandchildren (Macy and Clay) and two spoiled pets, Casey (dog) and Faith (cat).
