Open House – Thursday, March 6 th

Our students and teachers have been working diligently and can’t wait to show you the fruits of their labor at Open House next Thursday! We hope you’ll make plans to attend:

5:30 - 6:00 p.m. – PPCD, Kind. and 1 st Grade

6:00 - 6:30 p.m. – 2 nd & 3 rd Grade

6:30 - 7:00 p.m. – 4 th & 5 th Grade

TAKS TESTING NOTIFICATION

All third, fourth, and fifth grade students will take the first administration of the TAKS Test on Wednesday, March 5 th. Third and fifth graders will be taking the TAKS Reading and fourth graders will take the TAKS Writing. Fifth grade students will take the first administration of the Math TAKS on Tuesday, April 8 th. Then on Tuesday, April 29 th, fourth graders will take the Reading TAKS, along with any third or fifth graders who failed the first administration or were absent for the Reading TAKS. On Wednesday, April 30 th our third and fourth graders will take the Math TAKS. Fifth graders will take the TAKS Science Test on Thursday, May 1 st. Please make sure your child is on time to school during these testing days as administration of the TAKS will begin shortly after morning announcements. We also want to remind parents and students that a healthy breakfast and a good night’s sleep the nights before the tests will help your child perform to his/her best ability.

We are requesting that no third, fourth, or fifth grade parents visit during the lunch periods on the required testing days. The students will be allowed to break for lunch and the TEA guidelines state, “Keep students together as a group during lunch and closely monitor them to ensure that they do not discuss the contents of the tests.” Please remember to send healthy snacks with your child for their testing breaks those days. Thank you for your help and understanding in this matter.

“Fun in the Sun” - Sat. April 26 th 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

We hope all our Heritage Families will mark their calendars for our upcoming Spring Fling on Saturday, April 26th at Briarhill Middle School . Brandi Stevens and her outstanding team of PTA volunteers are already busy collecting donations in preparation for this Carnival and Silent Auction. If you would like to donate an item, sponsor a booth or game, or provide assistance on the 26th, please contact Brandi at brandistevens@txrr.com or (972)318-0346.
