Dear Parents,

Attached you will find a copy of the State of Texas 2007-08 School Report Card for Heritage Elementary. It is also referred to as the AEIS (Academic Excellence Indicator System) Report. This report is required by the Texas Legislature and TEA (Texas Education Agency). It is to be sent to the parent or guardian of every child enrolled in the public school. On written request, the school district is required to provide a copy of a school report card to any other party. The report provides information concerning student performance as well as information concerning expenditures and student/teacher ratios. The information contained in the School Report Card is required by state law.

If you have any follow-up questions about the information provided, the glossary is available in both Spanish and English and can be downloaded from the following website address:

Heritage Elementary received Gold Performance Acknowledgements in all academic areas: Reading , Mathematics, Writing, and Science. We also received gold performance for our Attendance based on the previous year. This award is given to schools that have a high percentage of students that received commended on the test. A student must score at least a 90% or above to receive the commended status. This is very encouraging to us in that our students are obtaining mastery on the TEKS ( Texas Essential Knowledge Skills). Once again we received every award, honor, or decoration TEA has to offer and I couldn’t be more proud of our students and staff. We have consistently been in the top five percent of all Texas schools. Our school average is usually in the high 90’s in every domain. Our successes would not be possible without the dedication of an outstanding group of teachers, students, and the support of the parents at Heritage Elementary.

Lost-n-found – A special thank you to our outstanding Student Council for returning hundreds of lost items to our students. Anything that has a name on it is returned to that student. However, there are still numerous unclaimed items; we have displayed them on tables and on the stage. If your child is missing a coat, sweater, lunch pail, etc. feel free to come up and check our Lost and Found. Any unclaimed items will be donated to CCA.

Canned Food Drive – Thanks again to Student Council for spearheading another successful Food Drive for CCA. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and safe holiday. The January calendar is attached for your convenience as is the AEIS report.

 Sincerely,
