Objectives Enduring Understanding: Literature is a product of the times and reflects the historical context in which it was composed.  Essential Question:  How does historical knowledge affect one's understanding of the literature created in an era?  Warm up: Book and Reading check (8.2);  Update Reading Logs;  Complete copying Holocaust background information into K-W-L - Units 7, 8, and 9 (8.14)  SSR (8.7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12)

Lessons/Activities Warm up: Write  Update Reading Log for completed or abandoned books; Book and Reading check;  Copy notes over last three units of Holocaust background;  SSR
Assignment H.W. - Read 20 min. in SSR book

Tuesday
Objectives Warm up: Write Reader Response to independent reading (8.7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12); Update reading log (8.7, 8); Book and Reading check (8.2);  Discuss background notes with class (8.7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14);

Lessons/Activities Copy notes; Reader Response to independent reading; Update Reading Log for books completed or abandoned; Discuss background information about Holocaust and construct timeline; Students read in self-chosen and independent reading.

Lessons/Activities  Update Reading Log for books completed or abandoned;  We start the play Anne Frank from our literature book today. We will also hear an audio recording of it as we read; SSR
