Objectives Texas Parks & Wildlife Beginner & Master Angler:
For Beginner Angler, Students will be able to :
-  Assemble basic tackle.
-  Tie one knot.
-  Cast safely with a spincast reel.
-  I. D. 3 fish species and baits used to catch them.
-  Discuss 2 fishing safety rules (1 water safety rule: 1 fish handling rule).
-  Know 1 fishing regulation and where fishing regulations are found.
-  Explain the elements of good fish habitat.

For Advanced Angler, Students will be able to:
-  Tie 3 additional fishing knots.
-  I. D. 4 different rods and reels.
-  Learn to cast the spinning reel, baitcast reel and the fly reel.
-  I. D. at least 5 fish species ( both saltwater and freshwater) and the tackle used to catch them.
-  Know 5 fish body parts and their functions.
-  Discuss 4 ethical dilemmas (2 catch and release: 2 environmental responsibility).
-  Discuss 5 fishing safety rules (water safety and fish handling).
-  Know 4 fishing regulations and where to find them.
-  Describe 4 aquatic habitats in Texas and good fishing spots in each habitat (2 saltwater and 2 freshwater).

Assignment Outdoor Trails:  Read carefully the assigned reading each day.  Make notes of things you're not sure of.  Listen carefully when Coach Saye is speaking and get involved in all discussion.  Complete all hands on training and/or skills.

Alternate Activity:   Wildeness Survival Unit.
