Hebron Valley offers
a Resource program to fulfill the needs
of students who require additional individualized assistance
due to learning disabilities. The program is divided into 2
groups - primary and intermediate. The children receive
direct instruction as well as instructional support in all subject
areas. A variety of techniques and resources are utilized to
maximize the success of each student.

Q. What is Content Mastery?
A. It is designed
to assist identified learning and at-risk students achieve their
maximum potential in the mainstream classroom.
Q. What student benefits from Content Mastery?
A. A student who:
1. was retained and is still having trouble the 2nd time around.
2. is an MTA student experiencing difficulty in the classroom.
3. failed one or more parts of the TAAS test.
4. is a 504 student who has been offered Content Mastery.
Q. How does Content Mastery help a student?
A. Services include,
but are not limited to the following:
1. Reading tests to students and/or assisting teachers with
test
modifications.
2. Helping with a worksheet, written assignment or anything
involving textbooks.
3. Studying for tests and exams.
4. Discussing individual student's strengths and weaknesses
with classroom teachers.
5. Monitoring student's progress and placement.
6. Aiding in student's organization.
7. Test taking skills.
8. Strategies which help develop "study skills" independence.
9. Developing student responsibility.
Q. When can a student come to the Content Mastery room?
A. A student may
leave the regular classroom and go to C.M. only when independent
work is being done. The student must be in the regular classroom
during direct instruction, class discussion, group work, cooperative
learning, peer tutoring, experiments or films.
