MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

Q. What do you learn in first grade?

A. You learn to read and a whole lot more!

In the area of reading, we do a combination approach of phonics and whole language (using lots of print and real literature). We learn many grammar skills, including spelling. We also begin to learn the mechanics of writing.

In math, we learn adding, subtracting, measurement, geometry, fractions, and problem solving.

In science and social studies we cover several themes such as: nutrition, dinosaurs, health & safety, our five senses, our country, and the seasons - just to name a few.

First grade is an exciting time of learning academics and social skills!
