Assistant Principal
Mr. Luis Acosta
A big Gator welcome from our assistant principal Luis Acosta. He has
spent the past sixteen years of his professional career in education, including
teaching fifth grade and seventh and eighth grade algebra
at Colegio Carl C. Parrish in Barranquilla, Colombia. Before coming
to Garden Ridge, Mr. Acosta was an assistant
principal at Central Elementary in Lewisville for three years,
and he began his career with LISD as a fourth
grade teacher at Vickery Elementary for one year.
Mr. Acosta was born in Cartagena, Colombia, but his family
moved to the United States when he was six years old. He is fluent
in both English and Spanish. He received a BA degree
from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and a Masters Degree
in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana.
He is married to Amy Acosta, who teaches Spanish
at Bridlewood Elementary. They have a seven year old daughter
and a three year old son. The family loves to eat pizza on
Friday nights or go to the library and then for ice cream
In his spare time, Mr. Acosta likes to dance
Salsa or Merengue and listen to all types of music.
