The Forest Vista campus currently employs 251 computers. Thirty units are wireless laptops on movable carts for student use in the classroom. Each classroom has three student computers and the computer lab contains 30.

Students from Kindergarten to Fifth grade utilize a wide variety of software programs, including the following Microsoft Office products:

Each grade level has a unique set of state adopted technology application skills to be mastered by the end of each school year.

Classroom computers include activities focused on Math, Science, Reading, Lang. Arts, and Spelling.

Second grade students recently completed a Microsoft Publisher brochure highlighting either a landmark or famous person. Fifth graders recently developed commercials for mini society. They also ran a query on a Microsoft Access data base and used Microsoft Power Point to illustrate research findings from Internet information sites.

Third graders work their way through Type to Learn during the first six weeks of school. This program teaches basic keyboarding skills. Kindergarten through second grade uses Type to Learn Jr. to prepare for advanced Type to Learn skills in Third grade. Fourth and Fifth grade student reinforce their typing skills by typing various classroom papers and poems.

Many Forest Vista teachers have been awarded laptops as recognition for successfully passing a series of tests and attending related workshops. Forest Vista teachers diligently stay on top of the ever changing technology world. They are dedicated to learning technological advances and integrating the best into the classroom curriculum. At Forest Vista, technology is not a separate entity - it is part of the everyday classroom.
