Curriculum and Lessons We will begin the year with a unit on Classroom Rules and Welcome To Kindergarten. We will then move to a unit on All About Me. To stay up to date on the units we will be studying look for notes in this section along with the table set up on the kindergarten home page. Please check your child’s folder on a daily basis to find any notes that you need to respond to along with daily projects and lessons that your child is bringing home. |

Homework Homework is sent home on Tuesday and Thursday. It is due the following morning and must include being completely colored, name, along with the activity necessary to complete the paper. Please give your child the opportunity to do this work on his/her own once you have read the instructions together. |

Specials Kindergarten will be part of the Specials schedule this year. Specials include Physical Education, Music, Art, Drama, and Library. You will receive a calendar showing the days we will be in each of these classes. Children must have on crepe soled shoes (tennis shoes) on PE days. It is also strongly suggested that the children wear tennis shoes daily because of the surfaces of the playground. |

Cafeteria For the first few days of lunch in the cafeteria we will need help from the parents. The kindergarten teachers will have a sign up sheet for this task and will let you know how you can best help. After the first few days the teachers will begin doing cafeteria duty on their own. You are welcome to periodically come have lunch with your child. You will need to sign in on the sheet located near the cafeteria door. You may bring outside food but you may only bring this food for your own child. You will get a menu from the ARAMARK Corp. indicating the dates and types of meals we will be having. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST FILL OUT A CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK (click here) BEFORE THEY WILL BE ALLOWED TO WORK WITH THE CHILDREN! |

Computer Lab Computer lab will begin in late September. The children will learn how to log-in, open and close windows, move through programs, exit programs, and log-off of their computers. The program I usually begin with is a phonics program, Baily’s Book House. Through the year I add math, science and reading programs. During the second semester we will work in the Type to Learn Jr. program which teaches using the left and right heands on the keyboard along with the space bar, enter key, and shift keys. Terminologies you can begin using at home: |

General Information
- Please mark all items of clothing with your child’s name The children may bring a water bottle to keep on the table. I ask that it be a bottle that closes well and does not leak. ? After the first few days of class please let your child begin the responsibility of getting to the classroom on his/her own. Safety patrol will be on duty outside of the school to help your child get into the building. Teachers will be on duty to monitor the children until the first bell rings and then the children will walk to the classroom together. It can be very unsettling for a child to see other parents there and wonder why his/her parent is not there. |
