Dear Parents of Forestwood Middle School students: 

     Over the past three years Lewisville I.S.D. has provided all schools in the district the opportunity to take part in an initiative entitled "Safe & Civil Schools."  The program involves the training of a representative team from a school in the techniques of implementing policies and programs that make our schools safer, more orderly, and grounded in the achievement of well defined goals.  This year ForestwoodMiddle School joined the initiative, not because our school is unsafe or disorderly but to help us move from being a good school to becoming a great school.

     Last school year we evaluated our mission statement and articulated our goals in concrete terms.  By joining the "Safe & Civil Schools" initiative we will develop the expertise to take our school community to the next level grounded by that clear vision.  The first step in doing so is to assess the perceptions of every facet of our institution, parents, students and staff.  To that end, the purpose of this letter is to invite every parent that is a part of ForestwoodMiddle School to complete a brief and anonymous survey; the results of which will assist us in identifying our needs.  Of course the needs assessment will lead us to an understanding of the aspects of Forestwood that deserve our attention and we will embark on a focused effort to achieve that growth.
