Technology at Flower Mound Elementary

Welcome to our Technology Home Page. On this page, you will learn about some of the technology resources available at our school.

Flower Mound Elementary has integrated technology into our educational program. We have a computer lab of 30 computers with internet access. Our lab schedule is open to enable teachers to use it as an extension of their classroom. In our lab we have available many educational programs covering the subjects of Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. The classroom teachers and the librarian use the lab to teach researching skills. Keyboarding units begin during the second grade year and are repeated in third, fourth and fifth grades. We stress learning Microsoft Office skills in the lab and in the classroom. We have a large multi-media cart which is mobile and houses a large TV, computer, printer, VCR and scanner. This tool was purchased by our PTA is used in many projects and in many locations around the school. We also have a NOW (Notebooks on Wheels) lab of 30 wireless connect laptop computers purchased with TIF funds.

The students can access current technology in their classrooms. Each classroom has at least three networked computers. We are connected to a Wide Area Network thru fiber optics. Each classroom has internet access. The students can also access our Local Area Network which includes many networked programs.

Our teachers are actively learning more about technology. LISD Technology department provides on-going training throughout the year for the faculty. Our teachers are currently working on Level One and Level Two competency tests. As they pass Level One they can apply for a laptop to be used as their teacher machine. We have a Teacher Technologist assigned to our campus. She helps with training and special projects. Every day at Flower Mound Elementary we are looking for new ways to integrate technology into the learning process.
