CAMP

Fifth grade students will be provided the opportunity to participate in a two-day outdoor school experience with their teachers at Briarhill Camp in Copper Canyon, Texas. Lessons along trails incorporate and extend the geological and environmental concepts students have been learning in their classrooms. Parent chaperones who have passed criminal history checks will serve as counselors for each small group of students. The objectives of this outdoor program are:

  • To provide academic experiences for students in an outdoor setting;
  • To provide sensory experiences to help students develop an awareness of and appreciation for the interdependence of the natural and physical worlds;
  • To provide social experiences for students which promote a cooperative spirit and team building within the group, and personal independence.
