ARRIVAL
- No student should arrive at school until 7:30; at that time there is gym supervision.
- Students arriving before 7:45 are expected to enter the gym and wait quietly.
- When the 7:45 bell rings, students will go to their rooms in an orderly manner. Parents will be allowed to walk their children to the classrooms during the first week only.
- Announcements begin at 8:00.
- Students who arrive after 8:00 a.m. MUST stop by the office for a tardy slip before being admitted to class. Tardies are tracked on the computer and parents are held responsible for student tardies.
Bicycle Riders
- Bicycle racks are provided for bike storage. Students should have locks to prevent bicycles being moved during the school day. Remind your child not to lock two bikes together, as the owners may need to leave at different times.
- The school administration does not encourage bike riding to school until the third grade. However, parents are the best judges of their children's readiness and ability to manage bikes in traffic and to know how to store bikes safely.
- Students are NOT to ride bicycles on school grounds or sidewalks. They should walk their bikes on the sidewalk to the street and through the crosswalk with the crossing guards’ help.
- For safety reasons it is suggested that each child wear safety gear while riding to and from school.
Parent Drop-Off
- All students being dropped off by parents should enter the Center Hall through the front doors.
- When using the front driveway, parents must pull up to the curb to let their child(ren) out. Exit the vehicle on the curb side only!
- Please refrain from waiting for the first place to open up. Please pull forward as far as you can along the curb. Please unload between the front door and the fourth grade door to keep the line moving.
- The North (Windsor Street) parking lot is reserved for buses only until after 7:55. Parents are not to drop off or pick up students in the bus drive.
- The South parking lot is not to be used for pick up or drop off at any time. This is for faculty parking and Day Care pick up/drop off only.
School Buses
- All bus students will be dropped off in the North parking lot and will enter via the gym.
Walkers
- All students are expected to cross the street at the designated crosswalks with the crossing guards’ help.
- All students (K–5) walking to school should enter the Center Hall through the front doors.
DEPARTURE
Bicycle Riders
- Bicycle riders will be dismissed at 2:55, so that they might use the sidewalks.
- Students are NOT to ride bicycles on school grounds or sidewalks. They should walk their bikes on the sidewalk to the street and through the crosswalk with the crossing guards’ help.
Day Care Buses
- Day care bus students will be dismissed at 2:50. Children's World, High Meadows, Bright Steps, etc. will enter and exit the building by the First Grade door next to the fenced-in playground on the South side.
Parent Pick-Up
- All students who are being picked up by parents will be dismissed at 3:00 and will exit via the Center Hall/front door.
- Please obtain a name card for your front windshield from the front office and use it daily! This allows the faculty to call a child’s name via walkie-talkie at the entrance of the front driveway so the child will be ready by the time you reach the pick-up zone. This will help keep traffic flowing more smoothly.
- Please be considerate of others who need to leave. DO NOT BLOCK THE CENTER LANE.
- Parents should not leave cars unattended in the fire zone.
- If parked anywhere other than the driveway curbside, parents MUST get out of the car, come to the front door, and walk their child(ren) back to the car using the crosswalks provided.
- NO cars are to enter the North (Windsor Street) parking lot to pick up child(ren) until after 3:05. Park along Windsor Street if necessary.
- The South parking lot is not to be used for pick up or drop off at any time. This is for faculty parking and Day Care pick up/drop off only.
- Parents who walk up to the front door to pick up their children will be asked to move out from under the awning at 2:55 so students can line up. Parents are to wait on the sidewalk to the south of the awning. Please move away as soon as you claim your child(ren). Also, please keep younger children close beside you.
School Buses
- School bus riders will be dismissed at 2:55.
- Kindergarten, First and Fourth grade bus riders will exit the building from the Fourth Grade Wing. Kindergarten students will use the West/back door; First Graders will use the North/side door; and Fourth Graders will use the East/front door.
- Second, Third and Fifth Grade bus students will exit the North/side door in the Third Grade Wing.
- On days when a child does not ride the bus, dismissal will be at 3:00.
Walkers
- All students who walk will be dismissed at 3:00 and will exit through the Center Hall/front door.
- Students should walk on the sidewalk and not the grass.
- All students are expected to cross the street at the designated crosswalks, following the crossing guards’ instructions.
