The Student Council plays a very important role at Marshall Durham Middle School. The students share their ideas, interests, and concerns with the teachers and principal. They help the students raise funds for school wide projects. They assist the community when they are in need of aid. Being on Student Council is something that will help our students become responsible and active members of the community. The Student Council provides leadership training and opportunities for students to participate in the government of the school.


Responsibilities

  • Represent the interests of the student body
  • Maintain a positive relationship between the student body, campus administration, and the local community
  • Attends planning meetings once a month
  • Meets with classmates to discuss ideas and concerns
  • Work special events
  • Complete an individual service project
  • Serve as a positive roll model to other students

Requirements for Membership

  • Volunteer for membership through registration with parent signature.
  • Maintain an class grade of 70 or higher in all classes.
  • Have no, office referred discipline issues
  • Attend all meetings
  • Participate in all extra-curricular activities
  • Complete an individual service project
  • Serve as a positive roll model to other students
   

Meetings

Meetings are held in Mr. Davis' Science Lab Room (2320), the first Thursday of every month. Special meeting can be called by the Student Council Leadership before or after school.

  • Food Drive during the Holidays

  • Holiday goodies for Teachers
