TEKS and Testing Info

What to bring
Dress Code
1. Book to read when you are finished with the test
2. Pillow
3. Blanket
4. House shoes
5. Extra pencils
6. Cough drops and tissues if you are sick
7. Lunch if you don't want what's provided
8. DO NOT bring backpacks

1. Uniform shirt
2. Uniform pants
3. Hoodie in case it is cold in the room
4. House shoes
5. Belt
6. You may untuck your shirt on test day

What we provide on test day

1. Bottle of water you can get in the cafeteria before school. DO NOT poke holes in the cap.
2. TAKS pencil with smiley face eraser
3. Hilighter
4. Overlay - You must ask for this if you want it. You may also bring your own.
5. Straight edge - You must ask for this if you want it.
6. Snacks - Your teachers provide snacks in the classroom throughout the day and there will be treats in the hall at the bathroom stations.
7. Lunch, but you may bring your own if you want
8. 7th grade will get dictionaries for the writing test

Where you are testing

1. Check for your name and room number on the posters in each hall. Most of you should be in the same class where you took the math benchmark in January.

Before the test
Write these things on your test as soon as you start
1. Get a good night's sleep
2. Eat breakfast!
3. No arguments with anyone the morning of the test
4. Get to school on time. It's EXTREMELY important that you are here on testing day!

2. STAR3 Chart
3. Tally chart

During the test

1. Do your three passes
2. Take lots of breaks - go to the bathroom, drink water, take a mental break and think of your happy place, take a nap, stretch, etc.
3. Use your hilighter to mark key words or phrases
4. Use your overlay or straight edge to keep your place when you are reading
5. Keep your answer document clean - no hilighter marks, stray pencil marks, erase completely, no rips, no creases
6. DO NOT bubble your answers until at least 1:00
7. DO NOT turn in your test until at least 2:00
8. NO talking to anyone for the entire day, including the hallways, unless you have a question for your teacher - Then you may raise your hand and she will come to you
9. Be aware of the noises you make that could be distracting to the person next to you
10. If someone is distracting you, quietly let your teacher know
11. DO NOT write on anything except your test booklet and bubbling your answer document
12. Use pencil ONLY on your answer document

What's for lunch?
After you turn in your test

1. Turkey sandwich
2. Bag of chips
3. Orange
4. Carton of white milk
5. Chocolate chip cookie
OR... You may bring your own lunch and/or drink

OK drinks: water, gatorade, fruit juice, milk
NOT OK drinks: energy drinks, soda

1. Sleep
2. Read a book
3. NO talking even if everyone is done
4. You may still go to the restroom
5. DO NOT write on anything
