What is TAKS Tutoring?

DeLay offers a comprehensive tutoring program for all students. In addition to regular tutorials that assist students with their coursework, DeLay offers tutoring specific to success on TAKS. Funded in part by ARI and AMI, DeLay teachers offer after-school tutoring in reading and math beginning in the fall of 2007.These small groups will focus on gaps in skills and practice. The groups are led by highly qualified teachers who specifically design the instruction to interest and motivate students while meeting their individual academic needs. In early 2008, 8th grade science and social studies will begin a tutoring program to offer extra help to students before the TAKS science and social studies tests. Currently, we are also planning on offering a limited number of Saturday tutorials. These half-day "events" serve as combination tutorial sessions and confidence builders, by giving student the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in a group setting.
