Degan Elementary uses many technology tools to integrate technology into a student's day!

COMPUTER TIPS FOR TEACHERS

Office programs continually open in Groupwise as if they are attachments? This is happening because the documents are integrated. It's a setting in Groupwise and is very easy to fix.
1. Open Groupwise.
2. Click Tools > Options > Documents > Integrations.
3. Take the check out of Enable Integrations.
4. OK your way out and close Groupwise and any Office products that are open. You can now use your Office products without Groupwise interfering.

What is a loopback? If you have your wireless turned on AND are also using a network wire (aka 'patch cable') then you are causing a loopback!!! This slows the system to a crawl and eventually will take the whole network down!! You must not be using a network wire and wireless at the same time! Even if you think you are not hitting the network through wireless it must be turned OFF if you are using a network wire!!!

Changing your Novell Password Go to Start: Settings: Control Panel : Network Identity (a big red N)
Double click on it and select "Change Password". This is a very good thing to do if you think a kiddo saw you type your password in. The only REAL trick here is to remember to use your new password the next time you log in!!!

Update your virus definitions just right click on the blue ball and select "Update Now!" **you must have an active internet connection going before you update, or nothing will happen. There are lots of new nasties out there so take a moment to protect yourself! It really only takes a moment (unless it has been a long time since you did this, then it will take up to 5 minutes to update).

To unlock a keyboard you:
Open Control Panel : Accessibility Options: Uncheck sticky keys

Suggestions for stronger passwords; Use NUMBERS TOO!
A = 4 (see the 4 in your head as an A, see the resemblance?)
E = 3
i = 1
L = 7
o= 0 (zero)
u = C (just turn the u on its side)
S=5 (you can see why, right?)
