A Day in Kindergarten

 

A is fo Assessment -The Texas Primary Reading Inventory among other forms of assessment will be given to your child at the middle and end of the year and will be shared with you.

B is for Breakfast - Breakfast is served in the Cafeteria from 7:30-7:45. Students arriving after 7:50 will be sent to the classroom.

C is for Conferences - I am available for conferences each day after school with an appointment. Call 469-713-5951 to schedule an aappointment.

D is for Depend - We depend on you to keep us updated about any changes at home that may affect your child. Make sure we have your current numbers where you can be reached in an emergency.

E is for Everyday - We start on time everyday. Please make sure your child is in the classroom by 8:00a.m. so he/she does not miss anything important.

F is for Fun Learning Activities - Kindergarten is lots of fun. What may look like play to you is full of many learning opportunities!

G is for Good Manners - Good Manners are rewarded in Kindergarten with stickers, marbles, star certificates, and outstanding behavior rewards.

H is for Handwriting - LISD adopted handwriting is D'Nealian. Please continue to work on handwriting at home with your child.

I is for Important - Some of the most important people in our school:

J is for Jobs - We do jobs called learning centers. Some of our learning centers include: Writing, Reading, Computers, Science, Math, Listening, Puzzles, Art

K is for Keep an Active Interest

L is for Library - We will go the Library every week. Our Librarian is Mrs. Hanke. Books will be checked out each week and will be kept in the classroom reading center.

M is for Money - Anytime you have to send money to school, please put it in an envelope with your child's name, amount of money and what the money is for.

N is for Needs

O is for Outside

P is for Parties

Q is for Quality Time - It is important for you to spend quality time eah day with your child. Quality times includes reading, playing games, talking or having family nights.

R is for Reading Logs - Reading Logs have space for the date, name of the book and parent signature. Homework assignments as you to read to your child or have your child read to you at least 15 minutes a night.

S is for Snack - On occasion, we will have a snack that relates to our unit of study, but we do not have daily snack time.

T is for Transportation - Parents must send a note or call the office for any transportation changes

U is for Units - We have many units of study throughout the year. You can find the units being studied on your child's monthly calendar.

V is for Visitors - All visitors must sign in and get a visitor's sticker from the office before going anywhere in the building.

W is for Weather

X is for X-Tra Clothes

Y is for You!!

Z is for Zzzzzzz - Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep every night. We work hard every day!
