Most
Windows based computers come with sound recording
software built into them. On an Windows XP
computer you can find it by going to Start > All
Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound
recorder. This tool can be used with the microphone
that comes with your computer or a plug in
microphone. Test it to check and see what
kind of audio quality you get.
There
are serveral free software solutions to recording
and editing the audio files. One such program
is Audacity.
This is a free open source software recording
and editing tool that works well to record
and edit a learncast without costing anything.
It does require an additional software program,
Lame, that will allowyou to export audio files
in mp3 format (the standard
for the district). Installation is quite easy
and directions are provided on the page with
the download.
Other
free and easy to use programs include Voice Mail Compressor, Xilisoft
Video Converter. There are many
other converter programs. Select the one of
your choice to create and edit your learn
cast file.
