Safe & Drug Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC)
Task Force Application

The goal of the SDFSC Task Force is to bring together a cross of section of our communities to address factors contributing to substance abuse and promote protective factors that decrease incidences of substance abuse.  This will be accomplished through the work of 4 committees to promote awareness, education, support and enforcement.

Awareness:   Establish parent, student, staff and community awareness of SDFSC initiatives focusing on intervention, prevention and enforcement.

Education:  Establish and support consistent inclusion of drug awareness and healthy life style behaviors provided in an aligned PK-12 curriculum for LISD.  Additionally provide education for school staff and the community.

Support:  Establish a support system utilizing internal and external resources that target SDFSC initiatives and activities.

Enforcement:  Promote coordination with community members, government agencies, parents and school personnel to consistently monitor and enforce compliance with established policies and procedures that impact student safety and/or prohibited substances.

Expectations for SDFSC Task Force Membership
This will be an on-going organization.  Initially, members may expect to attend monthly meetings, but committees may meet more often.  Members must also be willing to participate in SDFSC Task Force training.  This training will be 3 hours and members will have several opportunities during the next year to complete the training.

The deadline to apply was April 26.
Please continue to check the website as more members may be needed at a later date.
