Marcus High School celebrated its 25th year of excellence in spring 2006. It is well-known for its high standards and preparation of college-bound students. Marcus students consistently perform well above the state and national averages for ACT and SAT scores. This past year, more than 79% of students taking AP exams received college credit. Marcus annually has a high number of students who receive recognition in the National Merit Scholar program. Academic Decathlon team consistently places in the top ten in Texas each year. In addition, there are numerous accomplishments made by our students in fine arts, debate, journalism, vocational and athletic teams at district and state level competitions. Student success has led to a positive school culture and tradition for Marcus' students and community. Marcus High School received Gold Performance Acknowledgments in 2006-07 for AP/IB Results; Attendance Rate; Commended on Social Studies; Comparable Improvement - Reading/ELA; Recommended High School Program/DAP;SAT/ACT Results; and Texas Success Initiative in ELA and Mathematics. Other recognitions include: National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Dept. of Education and Texas High School Network's Mentor School.
