U S Government Resources and Sites

Proceed through the course in the sequence in which it is presented. All reading assignments are presented in sequential order. A copy of the entire course eBook is provided in print and audio formats should you wish to download or print it for your convenience. Online reading and research will also be required and are included in the assessments.

As you work through the course, please remember:

  • All communication with your teacher must be through email. Your teacher will provide you with the email address to use. Be sure to provide your valid email address.
  • Be sure to follow the teacher's instructions as to how to submit assignments.
  • Always SAVE a copy of any assignment that you submit as a Word document on your C: drive. Things could possibly get dropped by the system.
  • Contact the help desk at eschoolhelp@lisd.net or call the eSchool office, 972-350-1800, if you have any issues accessing the course materials or technical issues.
 

Course Description: The US Government course covers the U S Government, its formation, branches, and key processes.  A course schedule is provided (below) that outlines all assignments and projects with due dates. All assignments are required to be completed and will be included in the grade for the course. The course grade will be determined by the grade on all unit assignments, activities, tests and performance assessments. The final exam MUST be taken in the presence of the district designated person and MUST be passed in order to receive credit for the class.  See additional course information (schedules, etc).

Required prerequisites: Grade 12
United States History

Number of Units/Duration The course consists of 14 units and will be completed in 9-weeks.

Required Materials Computer and internet access.

Essential Knowledge and Skills This course has been evaulated by the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Services department specialists to insure all Essential knowledge and skills requirements under Subchapter A, Chapter 28 have been met.

Course Minimum Requirements and Student placement

A student may only be enrolled in one LISD online course at a time. Should that student withdraw after the 3-week withdrawal period, the student must wait 12 months to participate in another LISD online course.

  • provide computer and internet access,
  • monitor student's progression through the units of study,
  • assist student with time management skills, and
  • remain in contact with the teacher.

Course Assessment

Course grades are determined based on these percentages:

40% Daily assignments (all are required and will be graded)
60% Tests (the final must be passed to receive credit for the course)
Parents and students may review grades in eSembler.

Teacher Information

All teachers who participate in an eSchool online course must:

  • possess current certification in the course being taught,
  • have passed both Level I and Level II in the Teacher Competency program
  • have completed 6 hours training in the SchoolWeb system,
  • maintain a current and active course related SchoolWeb site, and
  • attend the LISD required teacher training for online courses.

Student/Teacher ratios A maximum student to teacher ratio will be 25 to 1.
