4th Grade

  • In fourth grade,  we cover many new topics.  As in previous years, we continue to improve our reading comprehension, and read as many books as possible with our 40 Book Challenge.  In language arts, we work on improving our writing skills by focusing on narrative writing,  expository writing and revising and editing.  Math classes target double digit multiplication, long division, fractions, geometry and financial literacy.  While in science, students will be learning about the scientific method,  moon phases, matter, energy, force and motion, weather patterns and the water cycle. Texas is the focus of social studies in fourth grade, covering topics such as:  the 4 regions of Texas, Native Americans, explorers,  and the fight for independence from Mexico, as well as, the Industrial Revolution.
