OVERVIEW
Superintendent Dr. Jerry Roy and the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees created the Accelerated Instructional Services (AIS) department in July 2001. For the 2005-06 school year, AIS served seven elementary schools and five middle schools in LISD (8,734 of LISD's 47,500 students).

The department consists of an Executive Director, secretary and eight master teachers. The teachers are housed on one elementary campus and one middle school campus. All department members deliver staff development at the campus, district, state and national and/or international level.

AIS team members also:

• Assist with test data disaggregation
• Provide accelerated tutoring to close student-learning gaps
• Use assessment to drive instruction
• Plan with campus team or department members for research-based, engaging instruction (school year and summer)
• Coach or partner teach in classrooms with staff
• Assist campus staff to develop and sustain school-wide cohesive discipline management systems
• Locate, acquire and provide classroom resources to assist staff in building effective, engaging instruction
• Use coaching and planning sessions to assist campus staff to implement new materials
• Partner with campus personnel to monitor student performance, grades and attendance for indicators of learning and skill retention

The AIS Executive Director and campus principals meet regularly to plan proactively, solve issues, share information and collaborate for student success. Campus and AIS leadership regularly monitor the development, implementation and progress of newly established systems designed to assure student success.

LEVELS OF SERVICE
• AIS teachers reside at targeted campuses to provide daily, ongoing assistance
• AIS serves as a resource to targeted campuses with Title II staff via regularly scheduled principal meetings as well as campus staff development and assistance upon request
• AIS provides information and services upon request to non-targeted campuses throughout the district

PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS
The AIS staff monitors program efficiency via a variety of formative and summative measures including benchmark and state test scores, teacher and administrator surveys, and teacher and student attendance and retention.

VISION STATEMENT
• Attain academic success for all LISD students
• Focus on specific academic content needs for all students
• Create systems that enable teachers and students to achieve excellence in all core content areas assessed via TAKS
• Partner with LISD administrative staff and community entities to maximize student success

COMMUNITY NETWORKING
AIS personnel collaborate with the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce, The Colony Chamber of Commerce, Communities in Schools North Texas, Saturday Scholars, the University of North Texas, Rotary Club, Christian Community Action and Pedi-Place to create a network of community support for students.
