Ninth annual salute to our American veterans

Lewisville ISD's Board of Trustees hosts the ninth annual Veterans Day breakfast and ceremony on Friday, Nov. 9. LISD employees who are veterans are encouraged to attend.

Veterans and their guests are invited to a breakfast at 9:30 a.m. at Timber Creek Elementary, followed by a public Veterans Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at LISD's Administration Building. Breakfast attendees should RSVP by e-mail to Valerie Nettles. Click here for information.

LISD has partnered with Lifetime Fitness and Wellness to offer health profiles and other services to all LISD employees, their spouses and dependent children 18 years and older. Click here to learn more.

High notes

- Todd Berridge (orchestra director, Flower Mound High School) was selected to represent Texas in the annual "50 Directors Who Make a Difference" article in the December issue of School Band and Orchestra.

 

- Bill Matney (music therapist, Special Education) published a book for music therapists titled Tataku - The Use of Percussion in Music Therapy. Bill will present information from the book at the National Music Therapy Convention in Virginia next month.

Goal!

- Nicole Jund, social studies teacher and girls soccer coach at The Colony High School, was selected as the University Interscholastic League National Federation Coaches Association State Coach of the Year for girls soccer. As a result, she will automatically be nominated for sectional coach of the year and will be considered along with other coaches in the same section for this honor. The National Coach of the Year will be selected from the pool of sectional winners.

Bereavement

- Opal Melton, mother of Judy Fogarty (assessment specialist, Flower Mound HS), passed away.

- Ronald Boutwell, father of Susan Heintzman (teacher, Heritage ES), passed away on Oct. 23.

- Mike Castillo (teacher, Flower Mound HS) has suffered the loss of his father, Tony Castillo.

Philip and Jan Nichols (counselor aide, McKamy MS) are proud first-time grandparents of Brodee Kade Johnson, born on Oct. 7 to Neena Nichols (MHS '00).
