Little fingers and toes - Georgia Simmons (teacher, Briarhill MS) and Carlette Daigle (teacher, Huffines MS) became grandmothers again when Brody Alan Simmons arrived on Aug. 7. His parents are Marcus HS graduates Darren and Cynthia Simmons; Cynthia is a former LISD teacher. - Lynda Fomby (secretary, Southridge ES) is the proud first-time grandmother of Adyson Fomby, born to Kenny and Cyndi Fomby on Aug. 9. - It's twice the fun for Bobby and Kerry Divin (teacher, Coyote Ridge ES) as they welcome twin daughters, Carly Marie and Casey Elizabeth, born on Sept. 1. |

A lifetime of love - Kimberli Merrill (MHS '03) and 2004 Marcus HS graduate Michael Koehler are engaged to be married. They are the children of Linda Merrill (attendance clerk, McKamy MS) and Claudette Koehler (Special Ed. resource teacher, Lewisville HS). - DeeAnn Walsh (Special Ed. resource teacher, Lakeview MS) and Joseph Woolison were married in June. - Jennifer Covert (systems analyst, Technology) and Denton ISD teacher Jon Phillips exchanged vows on July 7. - Patricia Britton (Special Ed. aide, Huffines MS) married Dallas ISD music teacher Timothy McCormick, Sr. on Sept. 1. |

Good news - Stephanie Untz (LHS '03) graduated from Baylor University in May with a bachelor's degree in studio art. Stephanie, a graduate student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, was the first place winner in the State of Texas Emerging Artist contest held in Kerrville. She is the daughter of retired LISD music teacher Sue Untz and Gerry Untz (teacher, Learning Center). - Jake Rice recently graduated as an Aviation Aerographer's Mate and is stationed at Norfolk Naval Station. He was first in his class and, as an Honor Graduate, was meritoriously promoted from Airman's Apprentice to Airman. Jake is the son of Marty Rice (welding teacher, Dale Jackson CC). - Kyle Elizabeth Kaminski, a sophomore and public relations student at UNT, was selected for a work/study program with Disney World in Orlando. Kyle will work at MGM Studios and take a public relations class in the fall. She is the daughter of Lee Kaminski (Journeyman I, DIstribution Center). - John Vera, son of Rosie Alexander (ESL teacher, Central ES), was recently assigned the principal trombone part for Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 and will perform with the Mannes School of Music Orchestra at Carnegie Hall on Nov.8. |
