LISD Art Show starts March 7

The Visual Art League of Lewisville will kickoff the 2008 LISD Student Art Exhibition on March 7, with an opening reception from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Art Gallery, 701 S. Stemmons Freeway, Suite #115 in the Lewisville West Shopping Center.

All art created by LISD middle school students will be on display until March 16.

The gallery will hold an opening reception on March 28 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Art Gallery for LISD elementary student art. Elementary art will be displayed through April 13.

The gallery will hold an opening reception for LISD high school art on April 18 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Art Gallery. High school art will be on display until April 27.

The Art Gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 - 4 p.m. and is located on the west side of Stemmons Freeway between Fox Avenue and Main Street.

LISD child care open house on March 11

Hebron Valley Elementary and Jackson Early Childhood Center will each host an open house on March 11 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. for employees interested in child care for their 3- and 4-year-old children. Click here for details.

Career Fair set for March 13

A career fair for LISD's paraprofessional and auxiliary staff will be held on March 13 at the William T. Bolin Administrative Center. Click here for more information.

Community garage sale on May 3

LISD's Community Education Advisory Council will sponsor a community garage sale on May 3 in Lewisville High School's north parking lot. Click here for more information.

- Megan Diercks (French teacher, Flower Mound HS) will be honored at University of North Texas' Alumni Appreciation Day on April 18.

- Kirsten Dahl, daughter of Jeff and Sonya Dahl (Special Education bridging teacher, Briarhill MS), was named to Baylor University's dean's list and Mortar Board for the fall semester.

- Mardray Wynn, a 2007 graduate of The Colony HS and daughter of Jeff and Bevae Wynn (content mastery aide, Killian MS), is a new member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Lon Morris College, Jacksonville, Texas.

- Jack Spinks, son of Maggie Spinks (records clerk, Flower Mound HS), jumped an impressive 7-0 at the Justin Northwest relays on March 1. His high jump ranks him first in Texas. Jack is a Flower Mound HS senior.

Wishes for happiness

Jenelle Flowers (teacher, Marcus HS) and Donald Camp are engaged and will marry on Aug. 8.

- Sharon Burris (principal, Bluebonnet ES) welcomed her grandson, Braxton David Williams, on Feb. 19.

- Sherah and Ty Robinson (Spanish teacher / coach, Forestwood MS) welcomed their son, Quinn Luke Robinson, on Feb. 26.

Bereavement

Jean Callahan (teacher, Prairie Trail ES) lost her mother, Jeanette Boutwell, on Feb. 23.
