Retired school personnel will meet on Jan. 17

The Lewisville Area Retired School Personnel Association will meet Thurs., Jan. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1002 Fox Ave. in Lewisville. The program will include a health fair, emergency management information and refreshments. Members are reminded to bring children's books, 2007 volunteer hours and steps. Congratulations

- Congratulations to Liz Lumpkins (librarian, Creek Valley MS) and Linda Thiebaud (librarian, McAuliffe ES) on their appointments to the Flower Mound Parks, Arts and Library Services Board.

- Sally Squibb (teacher, Lewisville HS) recently became the first non-Lions Club member to receive the organization's Melvin Jones Fellowship. The Melvin Jones Fellowship, named after the founder of Lions Club International, is the highest recognition conferred by the foundation for an individual's humanitarian efforts. Squibb was honored for her 15 years of service to the Lions Club.

- Heather Rentfro, a Lewisville HS graduate and daughter of Jody Rentfro (technology specialist, Technology), was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Stephen F. Austin University.

- Morgan Nevarez, a Lewisville HS graduate and daughter of Paula Dudark (teacher, Forestwood MS), graduated magna cum laude from University of North Texas with a bachelor's degree in legal studies.

- Hayden Norwood, a Marcus HS graduate and daughter of Jane Huey (teacher, Forest Vista ES), graduated from The Art Institute of Dallas with a bachelor's degree in interior design.

- Beth Yanda (teacher, Hedrick MS) and Mark Yanda (teacher, Huffines MS) welcomed their first child, Mark Christian, on Dec. 19.

- Dan and Leigh Riser (speech therapist, Special Education) welcomed their first child, Caleb Allen, on Dec. 27.

- Jean Smith (attendance clerk, Flower Mound HS) greeted her twin grandchildren, Lauren Ashlee and Ryan Cole, on Jan. 3. Their parents are Lewisville HS graduate Jeff Smith and his wife, Laura.

- Brian and Michelle Gullickson (teacher, Wellington ES) welcomed their third child, Andrew Brian, on Jan. 2.

Misty and Shawn Barr (manager, Facility Services) welcomed their twins, Brianna Brooklynn and Makenna Kaitlynn, on Jan. 3.

- Rachelle Hill (testing specialist, The Colony HS) welcomed her daughter, Zoey Lauren, on Jan. 6.

Bereavement

- LISD family member and Forestwood Middle School's librarian, Dr. Cynda Mast, died on Dec. 28. A memorial service was held in Pond Creek, Okla. Cynda was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 2006.
