Advisory Councils are an invaluable part of the Community Education process. Without the influence and support provided by the Advisory Council, Community Education is limited to offering classes, programs, and activities based only on the best thinking of the Community Education Director and staff. The Advisory Council is the vehicle that allows Community Education to move into a community serving role. This is accomplished by identifying real needs and significant problems and providing answers to them.
The Advisory Council is the bridge between the school district and the community. Because of the Advisory Council’s roots in the community, council members can encourage cooperative and collaborative agreements with other community organizations, thus assuring that needs are being met in the most efficient manner and with the least amount of duplication.
If you are interested in serving your community as a member of our Advisory Council, please contact Susan Blockley at 972-350-3690 or blockleys@lisd.net.
