Our Commitment to Nutrition
LISD’s Child Nutrition department is committed to the health and well-being of our students by offering well-balanced nutritious meals. A well-balanced breakfast and lunch plays a vital role in each child’s success. We believe that by providing a best in class food and nutrition program we are creating an environment that helps students flourish.


The department follows Nutrient Standard Menu Planning. All meals must meet the Recommended Daily Allowance established by the USDA and the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Texas Public School Nutrition Policy. We research and evaluate every recipe in our menu to ensure they meet nutrition requirements measured by the following categories: Calcium, Calories, Iron, Protein, Saturated Fat, Total Fat, Vitamin A and
Vitamin C.

What's New?

Central Elementary Honored as a Healthier US Gold


The United States Department of Agriculture awarded Central Elementary School the HealthierUS School Challenge Gold Award for creating a healthier school environment by promoting good nutrition and physical activity.

In August 2009, the Child Nutrition Department piloted the gold menu at Central Elementary, which increased the frequency and variety of whole grain entrees, dark green/orange vegetables and beans. This new menu’s success led the department to roll out a gold standard menu at all LISD schools.

“Lewisville ISD is proud to be one of the first in the state to offer these new Gold Standard menus. Over the past several years, in partnership with ARAMARK, we have enhanced our menus with many healthier options and increased nutrition education with our students,” said Mike Herman, LISD Food Service – ARAMARK. “We are committed to helping LISD students flourish.”
