Dr. Waddell's October 2014 Column: Public Education Evolves to Reflect Societal Changes
Educators continue to rise to serve America’s children.

It’s an honor to serve children. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student love to learn. Throughout my 36 years as an educator, I have received emails, notes and visits from former students who share how they enjoyed a class, learned to love history, or life lessons that helped them grow to be a better person. When I hear these stories, I can’t help but become emotional. These stories are why I serve children.

Lewisville ISD Schools Sweep UIL Marching Band Contest; Advance to State
Oct 25, Lewisville ISD (LISD) bands representing Marcus (MHS), Hebron (HHS) and Flower Mound (FMHS) High Schools swept the UIL Area B 6A contest. MHS took 1st place, HHS took 2nd and FMHS took 3rd.

“We are excited that three of our five high school marching bands are headed to the state competition next month,” LISD Superintendent Dr. Stephen F. Waddell said. “Their hard work and dedication is evident and we want them to know LISD will be cheering them all on as they perform.”

The bands will perform at the state contest Nov. 4 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
